Hello! I’m Paola, I’m 22 and I live in Madrid, Spain. I’m passionated about fitness and nutrition, but what I’m most passionated about is beauty. In particular, the Beauty that saves *, and that coming from the invisible manifests Itself in the visible things: in art, in the world and also in our bodies.
But it wasn’t always like that for me. For 11 years I looked for the outer “beauty” in extreme thinness and for the inner “beauty” in what now I know isn’t but an evil disorder: anorexia nervosa. Thanks God (!) there came a moment when everything changed and I started my journey towards recovery, which has been full of fears and suffering, but has allowed me to become a new person and has opened for me horizons of happiness previously unforeseeable.
My purpose with this blog is to help people with eating disorders to recover, and everyone to get to be the best version of themselves, the healthiest in soul and body, the happiest and, above all, the one with which they’ll be able to give more glory to God in their lives.
Swallow the World seeks to be a site that offers a spark of light and truth in the midst of the darkness and confusion that prevail in the world and the internet. A safe haven where you can come to learn and ask, that wants to show you that your healthiest and happiest life is possible and that your body and soul deserve care and harmony.
-Because others have helped me so much and I too want to pour the graces that God has given me over those who need them.
-Because this is the mission I feel called to.
-Because I used to live in the darkness and now that I’m in the light I can’t let others stay there.
I studied History and Art History at college. But, since then, I’m getting further education so as to be able to provide you with the best possible advice in terms of health, fitness and nutrition:
-I’m in the process of becoming a Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).
– In march, I’ll begin to study the Mac Nutrition Uni program, created by Martin MacDonald, in order to become a certified nutritionist.
Why “Swallow the World”? It comes from a quote in one of St. Augustine’s works. Commenting on Psalm 35, he says: “For that you swallow up, which you pass into your own body. The world would swallow you up; swallow thou the world, pass it into your own body” **. That’s exactly my call to action. Eat the food, literally, and then go conquer the world: don’t let yourself be beaten by its false ideas, expectations and preassures, but transform it through your “pinch” of Beauty.
