Stations of the Cross with soul and body. Praying with SoulCore [VIDEO]

Have you thought about why we adopt specific postures for prayer? At Mass, we’re all the time changing between standing, kneeling and sitting. There exists the custom of praying the Divine Mercy Chaplet with your arms outstretched. Even when praying the Rosary we have the movement of going through the beads.

Well, it’s for the same reason why art or music are so powerful to help us enter into prayer: because we’re soul and body. The physical and sensitive, then, are means to get closer to God.

SoulCore is an American initiative that explores this idea and combines prayer with exercise to help us go deeper into the realities of the faith that we’re contemplating.

Just as Jesus Christ gave everything for us, including of course His Body, so we can adore Him and surrender to Him with all the dimensions of our being, including the corporal one.

This way of prayer fits super well with the spirit of Swallow the World, taking care of our body’s health from our soul’s health <3

When we pray with our body, we realize that it’s something consecrated to divine worship, and therefore we can’t treat it with contempt, carelessly, or use it for improper things and acts.

For the first time, last Wednesday SoulCore arrived to Spain, and I had the privilege to be the one who organized and lead it. Despite all the obstacles, criticism and lack of understanding, finally the Lord provided and 7 people came to a parish in Madrid to pray the Stations of the Cross with this method and prepare to live this Holy Week intimately united to Christ in His Passion and death. Learning also that we’re called to be other Christs in our life and with our neighbors.

You can watch the video here!!!

And here you can watch the original, English version to pray at home.

“This 14 steps that you’re now about to walk you will not take alone, I walk with you. Though you are you, and I am I, yet we’re truly one, one Christ, and therefore My way of the cross 2000 years ago and your way now are also one. But know the difference: My life was incomplete until I crowned it with My death; your 14 steps will only be complete when you crown them with your life”.
