My conversion and anorexia recovery story [PODCAST]

Last Friday I was interviewed by Almudena Delgado at “Hay mucha gente buena” (“There are a lot of good people”), a show of the Spanish Catholic radio station Radio María. I talked about my anorexia recovery story and how God has acted in my life.

I love the name of the show. There are a lot of good people.

And it’s funny that they consider me one of those “good people”. After all, for 11 years my life’s been full of death, lies and manipulation. And if now I’ve been born again, it’s because the Lord has really insisted. I guess that we could say that then I’m a reflection of His immense goodness towards the world, and in that sense I can be called good.

All in all, beyond whether I live up to this name or not, what matters is that I do believe that my story can do good to many people. Because it can give hope and be an instrument of the Holy Spirit to touch the hearts of the listeners and drive them to recover. From an eating disorder, from an addiction, from an illness of the mind or of the soul.

That’s why I want to share it with you (mind you: it’s in Spanish!). You can download the podcast by clicking on this link:

My intervention goes from 0h 50min to 1h 42min. However, I heartily encourage you to listen to Pedro’s story as well, the one who speaks before me. He has awesome things to say, and he’s an example of how to live a life of faith because of his great trust and inner peace.

What I talk about

As for me, I speak about the long road from when I started with my eating disorder when I was 9 years old to when I decided to start recovery when I was 20, and how during that time my physical motivation turned into a moral matter at first, and finally into a strong religious matter. But the Lord didn’t abandon me through all that shit and eventually He rescued me. Then there began the hardest part, full of suffering and torment. I didn’t think I was going to be able to resist the pain and anxiety, but He’s kept pouring a shower of graces over me and, guided by my spiritual director, I’ve been able to get ahead and arrive to where I am.

I’ve totally changed as a person, and my relationship with God has changed as well: I’ve discovered the Heart of Jesus, and how the best way to love Him is to let myself be loved by Him. And I have the mission to share that love and to tell the wonders He’s worked on me, and that’s why now I speak in public about my recovery. I also see the need to provide reliable and trustworthy information about everything concerning health and how to take care of the body, especially fitness and nutrition, because nowadays those are confusing grounds and there exists a disordered mindset towards them which is responsible of the rise of eating disorders.

You can listen about all of this in the Radio María podcast! I hope you like it and it helps you.

I ask you to share this podcast with your relatives, friends and acquaintances, especially those who you think could find it more helpful.

And if you need to speak more personally with me, I’ll be glad to do so! Contact me via email or instagram dm, and download below the guide with “10 challenges to get started on ED recovery”.
